Hi Everyone,

I am going to attempt to upload videos onto the blog this weekend. Hopefully this will aid in practicing. Also, please make sure you have the leotard required for your class (Penguin = black; Snowflakes = light pink short sleeve; Elf = Red; Frosty = White long-sleeve; Lollipop = white long sleeve; Sugar plum fairy = pink short sleeve)

Recital Date: Sunday, December 7th at 1pm

At Montevalle Recreation Center

Children need to be here at 12:45

Parent Volunteers need to be here by 12:30

I will need help with setting up seating at noon. If you are available to help, please sign up at your child's class.

Thursday

Penguins

Music: Doing the Penguin

Album: Hot! Hot! Hot Dance Songs Sesame Street (1997)

Costume Requirements: black leotard, black tights, ballet slippers (any color)

Costume pieces ordered by instructor: penguin hats and felt penguin tummy

Dance Steps:

Start in 1st position (heels touching)

4 plies arms on hips (bends)

arms go up and down "flippers"

turn in circle

jump legs open then jump to legs closed

"waddle"

Arms up and down "flippers"

Tummy on blue spot, hands under chin, legs bent behind

Sugar Plum Fairy

Music : Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

Dance Steps:

6 pasae steps in place (toes to knee)

plie in 1st position
releve (rise) in first position
3 head tilts (right, left, right)

Repeat above with arms in High 5th

Point right foot side
point left foot side
point right foot side
look right (with right arm to forehead)
look left
look right

Piques front switch feet 4xs start with right foot
2 echappe (open close legs)
Repeat above section

Fairy runs in a circle

Sit on spot with arms in high 5th

Snowflake

Music: White Christmas

Costume: Pink leotard, pink tights, ballet slippers

Ordered by instructor: light blue tutu

Steps:

Start with feet in First position arms on hips

4 plies
2 turns
4 echappes (open close legs)
Repeat above

Piques with Right leg

Frosty the Snowman

Music: Henry Connick Jr.

Costume: White long-sleeve leotard, white tights, tap shoes

Ordered by instructor: blue tutu

Steps:

start with feet in first
Arms high 5th hold
plie stretch
arms in second (out to the side) hold
plie stretch arms go to hips
Right foot point side hold
feet back to first plie stretch
Left foot point side hold
feet back to first plie stretch

4 counts of shasays to spot

arms for "corn cob pipe, button nose, eyes made out of coal"

Right heel side arms with palms flexed, switch to left - repeat

cross left foot over and full turn right
hands to knees plie, stand up with arms extended in V-shape

Elf Dance

Music: Happy Elf by Henry Connick Jr

Costume Requirements: Red leotard, pink tights, tap shoes

Steps:

Step together (right) plie with head tilt right
Step together (left) plie with head tilt left
repeat above

Use fingers to count to 7
right hand to the side, left hand to the side
plie with both hands under chin and a big smile : )

shuffle hop stomp right foot
shuffle hop stomp left foot
Repeat above

Lollipop Dance

Music: On the Good Ship Lollipop

Costume Requirements: white leotard, white tights, tap shoes
White long sleeve leotard can be purchased at Pary City or at www.discountdance.com

Start in First position (heels touching) arms on hips

Two plies arms in First ("basket")

Two plies arms in High Fifth

Two plies arms in Second (out to the side)

Two plies arms on hips

Heel in front stomp feet together 4xs

Hands on knees little bounces bending knees

arms circle 1x

shuffle stomp right foot

shuffle stomp left foot

jump out into jumping jack position - (arms stretched out, legs in second)

jump to knees bent hands on floor position ("land on a chocolate bar")
